River Otters

Around Ohio

River Otters

These little otters seem to be having a good time at the zoo. We watched them chase each other through the mud and water and slide down the mud bank into their river. Otters can stay submerged for five minutes at a time. They eat fish, frogs, crabs, and crayfish. We had a lot of fun watching their playful antics.

What cute animals! They must have been hard to catch in a photo.

This is cute! I didn't know they spent time outside of the water.

So how do they breathe underwater?

I think they can hold their breath for five minutes.

That's amazing, otters are smaller than we are and they can hold their breath for longer!
