Butternut Squash

Favorite Pastimes

Butternut Squash

What a thrill to dig down among the leaves and find the fully ripened squash. We have outwitted the squash bugs, cucumber beetles, downy mildew, and all the other enemies of the gardener. Now we are ready to store up the harvest for the winter.

Squash do store very well for a long period of time. Is that why you grow them? Just curious.

Looks like the sun's shining on a little spot of it making it orange.
